Advertisement  (Part 2/Cue Card--IELTS Speaking)

Part 2 of IELTS Speaking

You will have to talk about the topic for one to two minutes. You have one minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.

Describe an advertisement that is particularly memorable for you.

You should say:
what product or service it is for
    when you saw it
    what happens in the advertisement

and explain why the advertisement is so memorable for you.

Sample Answer

I'm gonna talk about an advertisement campaign for a company that makes plastic products, especially a tiffin box. I saw this advertisement a few years ago during a marketing project in my college class.

The advertisement starts with a family member visiting a relative in the hospital. The relative is recovering from a surgery and is missing the home cooked food that they would normally eat. Unfortunately, the hospital does not allow tiffin boxes from home, so the family member is unable to bring any of their favourite dishes. However, the family member has a surprise up their sleeve. They pull out the tiffin box from the company being advertised, and with a soothing and emotional jingle playing in the background, they open it to reveal a warm, homemade meal.

What made this advertisement so memorable for me was the emotions that it invoked. The target audience for this advertisement was likely people who are away from home and missing the love, compassion, and empathy that comes with homecooked meals. The creative use of a tiffin box in a hospital setting was unexpected, and the advertisement effectively tapped into the sentimentality of missing one's home and family.

In today's harsh, fast-paced world, where people are always on the go and may not have the time to make homecooked meals, this advertisement showed the value of taking the time to prepare something special for someone you care about. It highlighted the emotional connection between food and family and reminded me of my own mom's cooking. I felt a strong connection to the advertisement and found myself thinking about it for weeks after I had seen it.

Overall, the advertisement was memorable because it effectively used emotions and a relatable situation to connect with its audience. The message of love and compassion through food struck a chord with me and made me feel more connected to the company being advertised.
