Advertisement (Part 3--IELTS Speaking)

Question 1:
What kind of advertisements are popular in your country?

Sample Answer 1:
Advertising in my country is a very diverse and constantly evolving landscape. Some popular advertising formats include TV commercials, print ads, and digital ads on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

Question 2:
How are advertisements today different from advertisements in your grandparents' time?

Sample Answer 1:
Advertisements today are vastly different from those a few decades ago. The internet and social media have allowed more targeted advertising. Modern ads are more visually appealing, socially conscious, and consumed differently from traditional media. Traditional media revolved around TV and print media but today along with these platforms, there is also digital media.

Question 3:
What makes an advertisement memorable?

Sample Answer 1:
I think if the audience feels a connection and resonates with it emotionally, the ad stays in a person's mind. Additionally, using humour, music, or a catchy slogan can help an advertisement become etched in memory.

Question 4:
Should advertisements be allowed to target children?

Sample Answer 1:
I think this is a controversial and difficult question. Adverts can help children be aware but they can also lead to unhealthy habits, such as overconsumption of junk food. Ultimately, maybe there should be some regulations to ensure that the ads are not exaggerated or misleading.

Question 5:
How do you think advertisements have changed in your lifetime?

Sample Answer 1:
Well, not that I know too much about it, but I think the advertising industry has changed significantly. Digital technology and social media have made advertising more personalized and targeted. Digital media has shifted advertising away from traditional platforms.

Question 6:
How do you feel about tobacco products being advertised?

Sample Answer 1:
I think there should be some restrictions to the advertising, for example, it should be ensured that they don't target children. There should also be some warning messages as well. After all, tobacco use can lead to fatal diseases such as cancer. Additionally, tobacco ads to youngsters can create a false impression that smoking is glamorous or stylish,w which can lead to long-term addiction.

Question 7:
Should tobacco advertisers and tobacco companies be at least partially responsible for financing the treatment of smoking-related diseases?

Sample Answer 1:
Well, it may sound like the right thing to do but the fact remains that the smoker chooses to smoke. It is free will; there is certainly no compulsion involved. But it is certainly a complex issue. I think we need experts and lawmakers to come together and decide on this.
