- What kinds of things do people write online reviews about in your country?
Sample Answer:
Well, I think there's a vast range. Shoppers post reviews about everything from their travel experiences on TripAdvisor to gadgets, clothing, etc. on e-commerce websites such as Amazon.
An easier way of saying the same thing:
Well, I think there's a huge range of subjects on which online reviews are posted. For example, people write on TripAdvisor about their travel experiences. Also, on websites such as Amazon, they write about whatever they buy--gadgets, clothes, jewellery, etc.
Points to note in the above answers - Write: Post (Can also use 'Pen down')
- People: Shoppers
- Websites: E-commerce websites (Can also use 'online shopping platforms/websites)
- Why do some people write online reviews?
Sample Answer:
I guess it would vary from person to person, but I think it is largely because people like to share their experiences and let the world know about the pros and cons of the products they buy.
Points to note in the above answer: - Largely: Mostly/Mainly
- Do you think posting online reviews is a completely selfless act?
Sample Answer:
I think, by and large, it is. There may be rare cases where you could be writing to make a complaint public, to express a grievance which is not being taken seriously by the company or the seller. Also, some sites, like TripAdvisor for instance, improve your rating as a reviewer as you post most reviews. Of course, there's no monetary value to this, but I guess it does give a sense of achievement.
Points to note in the above answer: - by and large: mostly
- expression of a grievance: complaint
- monetary value: the price of something
- sense of achievement: the proud feeling of having done something worthwhile
- Are youngsters more likely to post online reviews?
Sample Answer:
Not that I am sure, but I guess so. After all, the younger lot is usually the most active ones on every online and social media platform. In comparison, much as the older generation has also caught the social media fever, it's nothing compared to the younger generation.
Points to note in the above answer: - Youngsters: the younger lot, the younger generation
- It's a Yes/No question (that is, the answer needs to have an answer of 'Yes, they are' or 'No, they aren't').
However, another way of answering such questions is 'I guess so' or as I have done in this case 'Not that I'm sure, but I guess so'. - Do you think that online reviews are good for both shoppers and companies?
Sample Answer:
Certainly yes. Of course, the ones buying need to know the experiences of the customers who have bought and used the product. But the sellers also get to know what the users feel and how the product can be improved. So, it is a win-win situation for both.
Points to note in the above answer: - Shoppers: the ones buying, users
- Companies: sellers
- win-win situation: a situation where everyone involved benefits
