The bar chart below shows the top ten countries for the production and consumption of electricity in 2014.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar graph illustrates the leading ten nations in terms of how much electricity is produced and consumed by them in the year 2014.
China and the United States led both in the production and consumption of electricity by producing 5,398 and 4,099 billion kWh, respectively. These two countries consumed a little less electric power than the quantity they produced. Although Russia was the third-highest, it trailed further behind the two top countries. Russia produced and consumed approximately 1,000 billion kWh.
France, Brazil, Germany, and the Republic of Korea were at the four lowest positions, generating less than 600 billion kWh each. Germany was the only country which consumed more electricity than it produced with its consumption being nearly 60 billion kWh higher than the production.
Japan and India are at 4th and 5th positions, respectively, with the generation of almost 900 billion kWh of electricity in the year 2014.

The bar graph compares the top ten countries with reference to the amount of electricity produced and consumed by them in the year 2014.
The maximum generation of electric power was in China at 5,398 kWh, followed closely by the United States at about 1,000 billion kWh less. In comparison to these two nations, the other eight trailed further behind. Russia produced 1,057 kWh, followed closely by Japan and India with figures of 936.2 and 871, respectively. The remaining five countries generated less than 620 billion kWh each with Korea, Rep. at 10th position with a production of 485.1 billion kWh.
In terms of the consumption of electricity, it is noteworthy that Germany is the only country which consumed more electricity than it produced. In contrast, the United States, India, and France used much less electricity than the amount generated, with a difference of nearly 100 billion kWh or more each.

There is no one right way to answer the IELTS writing tasks, and that is what I have tried to convey by writing more than one sample answer.
The first sample answer, in this case, focuses on production and consumption side by side. The countries with maximum production and consumption are written about, to begin with. After that, the four countries with the lowest production and consumption are clubbed together. Finally, the two countries in the middle are mentioned.
The second sample focuses on production in all the ten countries first. In the next paragraph, the consumption is described in comparison to the production.
